Rules and responsibilities for using MyNORSU Social and MyNORSU LMS.
These Terms govern access to MyNORSU Social through the iOS app, Android app, Windows app, Web Version, MyNORSU LMS, the public website, related access pages, support channels, and connected platform features operated by CommunityStack.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using any covered service, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Child Safety Standards, and other rules or notices displayed through the platform.
If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the services. If you use the services for an organization, class, office, or other entity, you confirm that you are authorized to act for that entity where applicable.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights, remedies, or obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded or waived.
2. Platform Operator and Scope

|---|---|
| Platform operator | CommunityStack Information Technology Services (CommunityStack) |

3. Eligibility, Accounts, and Registration
Users must provide accurate information, keep account details reasonably current, and use only accounts they are authorized to access. Account approval, role assignment, campus affiliation, course access, or other verification may be required before certain features become available.
- Do not impersonate another person, create a misleading identity, or misrepresent your role, campus, program, organization, or authority.
- Do not sell, transfer, lend, share, or commercially exploit an account.
- Protect your password, email account, device, and active sessions.
- Notify support promptly if you suspect unauthorized access or account compromise.
- Users who cannot independently consent under applicable law may use the services only with any required parent, guardian, institutional, or other lawful authorization.
You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless you promptly report unauthorized access and reasonably cooperate with the resulting review.
4. Services, Access Paths, and LMS Records
MyNORSU Social may provide profiles, posts, comments, reactions, media, messages, groups, organizations, announcements, marketplace listings, jobs, tutoring, reports, and other community tools. MyNORSU LMS may provide courses, materials, assignments, submissions, attendance, feedback, grades or scores, messages, and related academic workflows where enabled.
Users generally create or access their MyNORSU Social account first and then use the same authorized account for MyNORSU LMS. Current access instructions are published on the Start page.
LMS data may form part of academic, instructional, administrative, audit, or institutional records. A request to change or delete an LMS record may therefore require review by authorized faculty or university representatives and may not be handled like ordinary social content.
5. Acceptable Use and Prohibited Conduct
You must use the services lawfully, responsibly, and in a manner consistent with campus safety, academic integrity, privacy, and the rights of other users.
You must not:
- Harass, threaten, bully, stalk, exploit, coerce, discriminate against, or defame another person.
- Post, request, distribute, or facilitate illegal, sexually exploitative, violent, fraudulent, deceptive, or abusive material.
- Share another person's private, confidential, sensitive, or identifying information without lawful authority.
- Upload malware, harmful code, credential-stealing content, spam, phishing material, or deceptive links.
- Attempt unauthorized access to accounts, databases, files, course records, administrative tools, APIs, storage, or infrastructure.
- Bypass, disable, reverse engineer, probe, scrape, overload, or interfere with security controls or service operation except where expressly permitted by law.
- Manipulate attendance, submissions, scores, grades, approvals, advertising data, engagement metrics, or other records.
- Use bots, automation, mass messaging, or data collection tools without written authorization.
- Use the platform for academic dishonesty, plagiarism, fraudulent submissions, or unauthorized collaboration.
- Use marketplace, jobs, tutoring, organizations, or messaging features for scams, unsafe transactions, exploitation, or prohibited commercial activity.
6. Safety, Child Protection, and Reporting
Users must comply with the Child Safety Standards. Grooming, sexual exploitation, coercion, trafficking, unsafe contact, child sexual abuse material, or attempts to obtain sexual content from a minor are prohibited and may result in immediate restriction, preservation of relevant records, and escalation to appropriate authorities or authorized institutions where legally required or reasonably necessary.
Safety reports, abuse reports, suspicious accounts, threats, and urgent platform concerns should be sent to support@mynorsu.social. Where there is an immediate risk of harm, contact local emergency services or appropriate authorities first.
MyNORSU support can review platform activity, but it cannot replace police, emergency responders, medical services, or official university safety offices.
7. User Content and Platform Permission
You retain ownership of content you lawfully own. You remain responsible for all text, photos, videos, files, profile information, messages, listings, comments, course materials, submissions, and other content you upload, create, send, or share.
By submitting content, you confirm that you have the necessary rights and permissions and that the content does not violate law, privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, academic integrity, institutional rules, or these Terms.
You grant CommunityStack a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, display, format, adapt for technical compatibility, moderate, and distribute your content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and provide the services, comply with law, or enforce these Terms. This permission ends when the content is deleted, except where continued retention or processing is reasonably necessary for backups, legal obligations, safety, moderation, dispute handling, academic records, or technical operation.
Do not upload confidential university records, private student information, copyrighted materials, or sensitive data unless you are authorized to do so and the relevant feature is appropriate for that purpose.
8. Marketplace, Jobs, Tutoring, Groups, and Messaging
Community features connect users but do not make CommunityStack a party to transactions, tutoring arrangements, employment discussions, organization activities, or private communications between users.
- Users must verify people, offers, prices, qualifications, meeting locations, and payment arrangements independently.
- Do not send money, disclose passwords, or share sensitive financial information based only on a platform post or message.
- Jobs, tutoring, sales, and organization posts must be accurate, lawful, and relevant to the intended feature.
- CommunityStack may remove misleading, unsafe, prohibited, or off-topic listings but does not guarantee the identity, quality, legality, safety, or performance of any user or offer.
Users should review the Marketplace Safety Guide, Jobs & Tutoring Guide, and Student Organizations Guide before relying on these features.
9. Moderation, Investigations, and Enforcement
CommunityStack may review, restrict, remove, preserve, or escalate content, accounts, files, listings, messages, course activity, or related records where reasonably necessary to investigate or address suspected abuse, safety risk, fraud, privacy concerns, unauthorized access, technical threats, academic misconduct, legal obligations, or violations of these Terms.
Actions may include warnings, content removal, reduced visibility, feature restrictions, role changes, forced sign-out, account suspension, account termination, preservation of records, or coordination with authorized faculty, university offices, service providers, legal counsel, or authorities.
Not every report will result in removal or suspension. Decisions may consider available evidence, severity, context, repeated conduct, safety, legal obligations, platform integrity, and legitimate academic or institutional interests.
10. Advertising, Sponsored Content, and Promotions
The services may be provided free of charge and supported by direct advertising, third-party advertising, affiliate promotions, sponsored content, or house promotions. Ads may appear in the app, LMS, public website, or other approved placements.
Advertising does not constitute an endorsement, guarantee, recommendation, or verification of an advertiser, product, service, offer, or claim. Users are responsible for evaluating advertisements and dealing directly with advertisers where appropriate.
Advertisers and promotional partners must comply with applicable law, campaign requirements, content restrictions, platform safety standards, and any separate advertising agreement. CommunityStack may reject, pause, remove, or refuse advertising that is misleading, unsafe, unsuitable for the campus audience, technically defective, unpaid, or inconsistent with platform standards.
11. Third-Party Services and External Links
The platform may rely on third-party providers for authentication, databases, storage, hosting, analytics, notifications, advertising, distribution, email, and other infrastructure. External links may also lead to websites or services not controlled by CommunityStack.
Third-party services are governed by their own terms, availability, security, and privacy practices. CommunityStack does not control every third-party service and is not responsible for external content, transactions, outages, policies, or changes beyond its reasonable control.
| Service category | Examples of use |
|---|---|
| Backend services | Authentication, database, storage, and application services |
| Hosting and distribution | Public website, web app, LMS hosting, and app distribution pathways |
| Analytics and advertising | Service measurement, campaign delivery, impressions, clicks, and reporting |
| Notifications and communication | Push notifications, email, support, and operational messages |
12. Privacy and Personal Information
The Privacy Policy explains the categories of information processed, the purposes of processing, advertising and analytics, third-party services, sharing, retention, deletion, security, and user request routes.
Operational account, app, LMS, safety, and deletion requests should be sent to support@mynorsu.social. Formal privacy and compliance coordination may be sent to jenifer@communitystack.org.
13. Platform Intellectual Property
Except for user content and third-party materials, the platform's software, design, branding, interface, documentation, graphics, databases, structure, and related materials are owned by or licensed to CommunityStack and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
These Terms grant only a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the services for their intended purpose. They do not transfer ownership or permit users to copy, sell, sublicense, publish, reverse engineer, reproduce, or create competing services from protected platform materials except where expressly authorized in writing or permitted by mandatory law.
“MyNORSU Social,” “MyNORSU LMS,” CommunityStack branding, and associated marks may not be used in a way that suggests endorsement, official authority, partnership, or affiliation without written permission.
14. Account Deletion and Data Retention
Users may request account deletion by emailing support@mynorsu.social with the subject line Account Deletion Request. The request should include the registered email address and full name. Reasonable identity verification may be required.
Deletion does not necessarily remove every record immediately. Information may be retained, restricted, anonymized, or preserved where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, moderation, legal compliance, academic records, institutional requirements, support history, backups, audit logs, or disputes.
Stopping use, uninstalling the app, or losing access does not itself delete an account.
15. Suspension, Restriction, and Termination
CommunityStack may suspend, restrict, or terminate access where reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, prevent fraud, address unauthorized access, enforce these Terms, protect platform integrity, or respond to legitimate academic or institutional concerns.
Where appropriate and reasonably possible, users may receive notice or an opportunity to clarify a matter. Immediate action may be taken without prior notice when there is a serious safety, security, legal, abuse, or operational risk.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including content responsibility, intellectual property, retention, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, and governing law—remain effective after access ends.
16. Availability, Updates, and Service Changes
The services may be modified, interrupted, limited, updated, replaced, or discontinued. Features may differ by device, account role, campus, course, rollout stage, approval status, or technical configuration.
CommunityStack does not guarantee continuous availability, compatibility with every device, permanent storage of user content, or that every feature will remain unchanged. Planned or emergency maintenance, provider outages, internet conditions, device limitations, security incidents, and other events may affect access.
Users should keep independent copies of important files, submissions, records, and communications where appropriate.
17. Disclaimers
The services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. CommunityStack does not warrant that the services will be uninterrupted, error-free, completely secure, suitable for every purpose, or free from all harmful components.
Community content, listings, posts, messages, tutoring offers, job opportunities, marketplace items, advertisements, external links, and user statements are supplied by third parties or other users. CommunityStack does not guarantee their accuracy, legality, safety, availability, quality, identity, or outcome.
The platform does not provide legal, medical, financial, academic, emergency, or official university advice. Users must rely on qualified professionals and authorized university channels for those matters.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CommunityStack, its owners, officers, personnel, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential losses arising from or related to use of the services, inability to access the services, user conduct, third-party services, unauthorized activity, data loss, academic consequences, reputational harm, lost opportunities, or business interruption.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it will be limited only to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
19. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CommunityStack and its owners, officers, personnel, contractors, and service providers from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of the services, your content, your transactions or arrangements with other users, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person's rights.
This section does not require a user to indemnify a party for that party's own unlawful conduct or for obligations that cannot lawfully be transferred.
20. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without limiting any mandatory rights or protections that apply to a user.
Before filing a formal dispute, users are encouraged to contact MyNORSU support and provide enough information for the issue to be reviewed. This informal step does not prevent a person from seeking urgent relief, reporting a crime or safety matter, filing a regulatory complaint, or exercising a right that cannot lawfully be restricted.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally may be brought before a court or authority with lawful jurisdiction.
21. Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated as the services, features, providers, legal requirements, safety practices, or operational processes change. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
Where reasonably necessary, material changes may also be communicated through the platform, website, email, or another appropriate channel. Continued use after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
