Rules, responsibilities, and conditions for using MyNORSU Social and MyNORSU LMS.
These Terms govern access to and use of MyNORSU Social, MyNORSU LMS, related access pages, support channels, mobile/web access paths, and connected platform services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using MyNORSU Social, MyNORSU LMS, the website, the Android access path, the web app, or related services, you agree to comply with these Terms and all applicable laws, regulations, institutional rules, and platform policies.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access or use the platform.
2. Platform Operator and Third-Party Notice
The platform is operated by CommunityStack. It is independently developed externally and is not an internally built software product of the NORSU MIS/EDP units unless separately adopted or approved by the university.
The platform may be used in coordination with NORSU rollout communications, but official university matters such as enrollment, official grades, records, fees, admissions, discipline, employment, and administrative decisions remain under the proper university offices.
3. Accounts, Registration, and Access Sequence
Users must provide accurate account information and must not impersonate another person, use false identity details, or create accounts for unauthorized purposes.
The intended access sequence is:
- Open the launch page at https://mynorsu.social/start/.
- Create or log in to a MyNORSU Social account first.
- Use the same credentials to access MyNORSU LMS where enabled.
- Do not create a separate LMS-only account unless the university or platform operator later gives a separate instruction.
Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and for activity under their account.
4. LMS Access and Academic Records
MyNORSU LMS may support courses, assignments, submissions, teacher feedback, manual paper-submission scores, grades or scores where enabled, and class-related activity records.
LMS records may relate to academic, administrative, or institutional requirements. Requests to change or delete LMS records may require review by authorized university or faculty representatives and may not be processed in the same way as ordinary social content deletion.
Users must not tamper with LMS records, submit false work, access another user's class information, bypass controls, or misuse teacher/student access.
5. User Conduct
Users must not use the platform to harass, threaten, defame, exploit, deceive, impersonate, spam, upload malware, share illegal content, violate academic integrity, or interfere with platform operation.
- Do not post abusive, discriminatory, sexually exploitative, violent, fraudulent, or illegal content.
- Do not share another person's private information without permission.
- Do not misuse marketplace, tutoring, jobs, organizations, groups, messaging, or LMS features.
- Do not attempt unauthorized access to accounts, databases, files, LMS records, admin tools, or platform systems.
6. User Content
Users are responsible for the content they upload, submit, post, or share. This includes text, photos, videos, files, comments, messages, LMS submissions, and profile information.
By submitting content, users confirm that they have the right to share it and that it does not violate law, university rules, intellectual property rights, privacy rights, academic integrity rules, or these Terms.
CommunityStack may host, process, display, transmit, moderate, restrict, or remove user content as reasonably necessary to operate the platform and enforce these Terms.
7. Moderation and Enforcement
CommunityStack may review, restrict, remove, or escalate content or accounts where there is suspected abuse, safety risk, fraud, privacy concern, technical risk, violation of these Terms, or request from authorized university representatives.
Moderation actions may include warning, content removal, feature restriction, account suspension, account termination, or escalation to appropriate university contacts where the matter involves institutional or academic concerns.
8. Advertising and Monetization
The platform is free to use for students, faculty, staff, and authorized users. Operational costs may be supported through in-app advertisements.
Advertising categories are configured to restrict mature, sensitive, or unsuitable categories and to maintain suitability for a general university audience. Ad delivery is handled through third-party advertising providers and may be subject to their policies, systems, and privacy practices.
Ads must not be used as an excuse to bypass university review, data privacy obligations, user safety rules, or platform restrictions.
9. Third-Party Services
The platform may rely on third-party services for authentication, hosting, database, storage, app distribution, advertising, analytics or technical logs, and support communications.
| Service type | Example provider / role |
|---|---|
| Authentication, database, and storage | Supabase and related backend services |
| Advertising | Google AdMob and related ad delivery systems |
| Android access | Uptodown or other official rollout pathway shown on the launch/download page |
| Web and domain hosting | Website, launch page, web app, and LMS hosting providers |
| Support and compliance communication | Email/support providers used for user and institutional coordination |
10. Privacy
Use of the platform is also governed by the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains the categories of information collected, purposes of processing, third-party services, advertising data, retention, deletion, account support, and user rights.
Privacy or compliance-related concerns may be directed to jenifer@communitystack.org.
11. Account Deletion and Data Retention
Users may request account deletion by emailing support@communitystack.org with the subject line Account Deletion Request.
Deletion requests will be reviewed and processed where technically, legally, academically, and operationally appropriate. Some information may be retained where necessary for security, fraud prevention, support history, moderation records, legal compliance, academic integrity, LMS recordkeeping, institutional requirements, backups, logs, or audit records.
LMS-related records, including course activity, submissions, scores, feedback, and class records, may require separate review because they may relate to academic, administrative, or institutional records.
12. Suspension, Restriction, or Termination
CommunityStack may suspend, restrict, or terminate access if a user violates these Terms, creates safety or legal risk, misuses the platform, attempts unauthorized access, abuses LMS functions, submits fraudulent information, or interferes with platform operation.
Users may stop using the platform at any time. Stopping use does not automatically delete records that must be retained for security, legal, academic, support, moderation, or institutional reasons.
13. Availability, Downloads, and Access Paths
Users should follow the current access instructions shown on the official launch page. Android access may be provided through the current rollout download pathway, while iPhone/iPad access may be provided through Safari/web access while a native iOS version is being prepared.
Access paths may change during rollout. Users should avoid unofficial APK files, copied login pages, or unknown links.
14. Compliance Review Notice
The platform, including user data handling, LMS data, third-party services, and advertising-supported operations, may be subject to review by NORSU Legal Counsel, the Data Protection Officer, and authorized university offices.
These Terms are not a legal certification, legal opinion, or final institutional compliance determination.
15. Limitation of Liability
The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. CommunityStack does not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free access, complete availability, compatibility with every device, or that every feature will remain unchanged during rollout.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CommunityStack and the platform operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, reputational, academic, financial, data-related, or operational damages arising from platform use, access interruption, user misuse, third-party services, or unauthorized activity.
16. Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
Continued use of the platform after updates means users accept the revised Terms.
